Thonged/Topfree Beach Etiquette

LIMIT THE OPPORTUNITY FOR OTHER PEOPLE TO BE OFFENDED
Use good judgement. Don't "parade" up and down the beach. Yes, it is legal and within your rights to go anywhere, but enough complaints will result in a law being passed. Practice restraint. We recommend that topfree patrons stay within the suggested topfree area.

NO SEXUALLY SUGGESTIVE ACTIVITY
Leave exhibitionism to topless bars. Thongs and simple topfree are about comfort, not sex, and must be shown to be. Our behavior must be exemplary. Anything less can and will be used as an excuse to ban thongs and topfree. Do not flaunt your choice of swimwear. Do not make crude gestures or displays.

RESPECT THE RIGHTS OF OTHERS
Do not respond to gawkers, shouters, or photographers with threats or violence. Report threats to rangers--this is disorderly conduct at least.

HELP WITH LITTER
Bring along a trash bag. Carry out more litter than you create.

ASK PRIOR CONSENT FOR PHOTOGRAPHY
It is rude to photograph somebody without their permission, but not illegal. If somebody is photographing you, ask them to stop, or talk to a ranger. Do not let it start a fight--it will reflect badly on us.

SPEAK UP FOR STANDARDS
If a person seems unaware of appropriate etiquette, explain it. Give them a copy of this sheet. Instead of doing a slow burn, go talk, politely but firmly, to the person making sexually suggestive moves, the can-tosser, the gawker. Don't give anybody any excuse to ban thongs and topfree.

CO-OPERATE WITH RANGERS
Make their jobs easier. Help them out. Be model citizens.

We have spent the last four years fighting bills before the Ohio legislature. These bills would take away your freedom to wear a thong or go topfree. Any improper incident will be used to help pass a bill, so please follow proper beach etiquette.

MISBEHAVIOR WILL LOSE US THESE FREEDOMS!
