This is the 40th Bomb Group's forward airfield as it appeared in 1995 - Chengtu, China. This airfield was used on the August 20, 1944 daylight mission to Yatawa, Japan. The 40th received the Presidential Unit Citation for this mission.

Sally. I do not remember the names of the crew. The person that sent me the picture is the son of the airmen in the lower left hand of the picture. Most of the faces in the picture are familiar to me but that was 50 years ago. The plane is from the 4910 Air Base Group, 4925 Special Weapons Command, Kirtland AFB, New Mexico.
