ANOTHER 4TH OF JULY Seems that the 4th of July of 2007
was as close as yesterday!
My, how times does fly, here now
but gone tomorrow;
Never does it stop to consider
all of life's sorrow, caused by
rushing through the days like
the strong March wind,
which blows day and night
without a proper end!
Being a disabled veteran of WWII,
my thoughts of last year were
that would be my last 4th of my
residence here on Mother Earth!
Yet God has given to me anothe year
in which to contemplate the meaning
of the 4th of July.
Freedom is a heavy word
and not so often heard in these
modern days, for the world is sick
in so many ways.
The U. S. of A. has lost her way
down the well-worn path of Freedom,
for which so many thousands
have died the death in wars far and near,
while true patriots stand in fear
of God's judgments upon a land wherein
man is considered King
and is crowned with the human diadem
of self-glory, while the God of Creation
is all but banished from the nation,
to which He gave the pangs of birth
in Sweet Freedom's court;
On all our coins we still can read,
"In God We Trust", and so we must
or die the death of Freedom,
for which so many have died.
Shall their death be of no worth,
tossed aside like refuse on the Street
of Pleasure, without the measure
of life's treasure!
On D-Day's early morn, thousands bled
and died on Utah Beach, turning the
waters red with American blood.
That blood still cries out
to those of us who are still alive
on the 4th of July 2008.
The residents of Heaven must blush for
Sweet Freedom's demise, like the
Psalmist, who lifted his eyes and looked
to the skies from whence came his help.
We do well to walk in his step
and commit to God the future of this once
Great Land, by taking Freedom by the hand!
Fly the flag, for it is not just a rag
of red, white, and blue with stars and stripes,
reminding us of days past when Old Glory
was raised in victory over many a foe,
like the raising of the flag at Iwo
so long ago where seven thousand Marines
died the death for Freedom, and where some
thirteen-thousand earned the Purple Heart.
They never counted the cost of such
great loss, for Freedom cannot be measured
by inches, feet, or yards, nor miles
nor by the rod, but by the heart of God,
and it is to Almighty God that I raise my prayer
for the Freedom that once was where
all could see her worth, as the Good Lord
gave her birth!
I love Freedom more than life, for life
without Freedom
is no life at all!
(At least, that's one man's opinion)
