Restore the value & functionality of your Stereo Realist

Replacement Shutter Dial

This is a part that you might need to restore your Stereo Realist. It is the shutter dial.  It is made out of bakelite, so it can break easily, especially if you try to replace the lens cover.

NOTE:  There are two versions of this dial, one with top speed of 150, normally used in Realist f3.5 cameras, and dials with top shutter speed of 200, normally used in f2.8 cameras.  Please specify which type you need.  If you do not specify, I will send the 150 dial.

Here is the f2.8 dial:

To install the replacement shutter dial.

  1. Set the existing shutter speed dial to 1 second.

  2. Remove the existing shutter speed dial assembly by removing the 4 screws that hold it in place (picture on the left, one screw is circled)

  3. Note: You might need to install the lens cover first, before installing the dial.

  4. Set the shutter speed dial to 1 sec and place shutter dial assembly in place and tighten with 4 screws.
