NEW Inexpensive Full-Frame
Realist Format Stereo Slide Viewer

Are you looking for a good, inexpensive stereo viewer to give to friends or distribute with your work?

I have the perfect viewer for you:

Colors might vary - Black or Blue

This viewer has the following advantages:

  • Good appearance (important if you distribute your own work)
  • Good plastic lenses of 48mm FL and 23mm diameter
  • Will show full frame stereo slides (mounted in 33mm wide RBT Realist-format slides).
  • Good reflector for available light
  • Compact, lightweight (cheap to mail) and nearly indestructible plastic body (will take lots of abuse).
  • Accepts all standard 41x101mm stereo slides, including Realist, European, Nimslo, even full frame (RBT) But note that some glass mounted slides might be a bit too thick.

  • Can be taken apart for previewing over a light table to be cleaned or other projects

I spent considerable time comparing this viewer with what is the standard best-selling viewer in this class, the Radex viewer which I also sell in ebay. This NEW viewer is an improvement over the OLD one in several respects. I have summarized my conclusions below:

Old Classic NEW Classic

My Observations

Appearance: New viewer looks stylish, it is better designed and makes a better first impression.
Eyepieces: New viewer shows less "barrel distortion" and about 10% larger image. I like the way the new viewer eyepiece is designed. Works well without glasses.

Old (left) vs New (right)
Light Diffuser: Even though the old reflector looks whiter, the new viewer diffuser is slightly thinner and, as a result, brighter than the old viewer diffuser.
Looking through: Old viewer does not have a mask to frame the image. What you see is the round diffuser in the back. New viewer has a black mask with 35mm wide apertures and shows a nice rectangular image.
Wide format accommodation: Old viewer does not work well with wide mounts. Either a part is cut off or light leaks from the side. New viewer works perfectly with the widest (33mm) RBT mount

I also sell RBT mounts, contact me for details

And for those who like to experiment:

You can easily take the viewer apart by pulling the diffuser out. You can remove the black mask or leave it in place. With the diffuser removed you can use the viewer over a light table to aid slide mounting.  You can also access and clean the inside of the diffuser or the back of the lenses from any dust (paper dust is a problem sometimes with cardboard mounts).
