Camp Wipawaug was a summer day camp located in Newtown, Connectiuct on 40 acres
of woodland with a 6 acre lake called the "Wipawaug Pond". The camp was for
boys and girls ages 5 to 13.
I attended Camp Wipawaug from 1969 to 1972.
Camp Directors were Richard Shea, Anthony Zaccara and Henry Zaccara. Activities
included: Arts and Crafts, Boating, Archery, Fishing, Swimming and Baseball.
Camp Song:
"I'm A Wipawaug Camper"
I'm a Wipawaug Camper,
Wip-a-waug-er do or die.
Were Souix and Crow and Mohawk too!
Sing out the song loud and clear!
Wip-A-Waug!
Here come those Eagles and Pequots,
They'll steal the show everytime.
Wipawaug here we come,
Take us to our leader
Well have a grand ol' time,
Once more!,
Well have a grand ol' time,
We really mean it.
Wip-A-Waug!
