Used to punch holes. The number designation on the plier indicated the diameter of the hole punched.
Toolmaker: C. S. Osborne & Co.
- A clearly marked "C. S. OSBORNE & Co. NEWARK, N. J.", "STEEL", Number 2, punch plier with a broken spring.
- A late 1880's vintage C.S. Osborne catalogue lists this tool as a, No. 153. Single Tube Spring Punches, Forged Steel Frame, Highly Polished, fitted with Screw Tube. Length 8 1/2 inches. Made in Sizes 00 to 10.
- This tool was purchased as a part of a saddle and harness makers tool chest, said to belong to the Sawyer Brothers of Liberty, PA between 1905-1923.
Toolmaker: Peter Lowentraut
- A clearly marked "LOWENTRAUT.", "FORGED", Number 6, punch plier.
- Peter Lowentraut was a toolmaker in Newark N.J. in around 1871 to early 1900's (1911 to 1920?)
