First of two books that focus on the toolmakers of New Jersey. Most of the chapters cover all types of tools and toolmakers from that region. The book has a few chapters on leather working toolmakers. There is a good history on C.S. Osborne & Co., as well as many other lessor known toolmakers.

Craft book, on the "use" of many kinds of leather working and harness making tools. Does not contain historical information. However, it is a great resource on the use and care of many of these tools.

Catalogue date unknown. Based on the patent history of various tools illustrated I believe this is a reprint from no earlier than 1884. Due to the reference to Newark on the illustrations it was likely pre WWII time frame. The origional that the reprint is taken from had only partial information on pages 11 and 12.
