ARMAMENT- one 23mm cannon twin barrel gun with 220 rounds of ammunition. Seven external store stations for missiles and other ordnance.

Self Defence- RWR system, Jammer and Chaff & flare dispensers

OPERATORS- Indian Air Force, Navy

HISTORY-

In the early 1980's India began plans for the eventual replacement for the MiG21s. First test flight planned in late 1999. Service entry is planned for 2003.
