A
Poet's Paradise
When my poet's quill is silent
and my bed is satin laid,
when my eyes are closed in
slumber
and my debt on earth is paid,
let the heavens shout a welcome,
let the angels' glad harps ring,
and let God the great Jehovah
give me melodies to sing.
Let me gather to my bosom,
with a joy that can't be told,
a new life everlasting
that is mine to have and hold.
Then let the Giver of all
talent,
in His mansion in the sky,
give me a golden plume to write
with
and a poet's wings to fly.
