It was the wildest catch... |
Fishing time is often a peaceful time where you can sit out and think the nite away as the moon slowly slides across the sky. After a while you can reach new understandings like, the moon usually comes up about an hour later every nite. So by the second nite of a fishing trip, you can pretty much figure out about what time it is by the location of the moon... I was untanglin the lines when I saw these eyes lookin up at
me thru the cracks between the boards of the dock.
I got a pry bar and began tearing the boards off the dock. As soon as I removed the boards the poor trapped creature sprang out of its prison and flopped into the water... I had a fishing net in hand and quickly scooped it up out of the water...
Aparently, this 'Great Horned Owl' had swooped
too close to our fishing poles, got tangled in our lines, and took refuge
under the dock.
I quickly untangled the fishing line from the birds wings. The owl was wet and was not able to fly. He hopped around the yard and clicked his beak together with a clicking noise when we approached too closely. After about an hour of sitting on this wall he flew down to the neighbor's dock. A few hours later he had recovered enough to fly across the lake, back to his woods.
