It was a second thought,
after the venison steaks were in the freezer, that I decided to attempt
to cast the buck's head and then mount the original antlers on the
casted head.

It was a cold gray evening in early December. I was headed south
out of Kansas City on a two lane highway. There was a doe running
along the left side of the roadway. I began honking the horn
to warn her to stay out of the road...
Bammm...
the front hood flew up
I couldn't see out the front
window...
I guess I wasn't the only
one watching that doe and not looking where they were headed...
I pulled the car to the side of the road and found a large buck
quite dead beside the road. The front of my car was mostly smashed,
the radiator was hissing and pieces of the front grill littered the highway.
A wildlife, park ranger filled out an accident report and helped me load
the deer in back. I tied the front hood down and somehow made it home
with roadkill venison to go...
Recycled glass was used for the first casting and a small fluorescent
light on the inside transforms it into a rather wild and extraordinary image.
Only two '7 Point Bucks' were reproduced from the original followed by
my favorite...the (Unicorn) 'One Point Buck' with a semi-etheral blue patina
and a silk rose in his mouth.
It was very very cold in
January when I finished piecing together the front end of the old wagon.
We are taking offers for this fine deer-slayer.
Make Offer...
Let this be a lesson to all... When you see a deer near
the road, slow down, be careful, deer frequently travel together...
