Originally
conceived as a one-time fund-raiser for Rochester Civic Theatre,
in April 1988, the format of re-creating old-time radio shows
was so popular and well-attended, that another program was
presented in July. Some members involved in the first two
shows decided it was so much fun, they organized a troupe
specifically aimed at promoting the replication and enjoyment
of old-time radio. A name was chosen, Rochester Radio Theatre
Guild (RRTG), offices were elected, organizational structures
were set, and a formal not-for-profit incorporation was established.
Currently, live theatre shows for the general public are
produced two times a year. We also perform "Road Shows",
with programs done for a variety of organizations.
Our re-creations are faithful reproductions of the shows,
just as they were produced forty or fifty years ago. The genuine
radio studio atmosphere is preserved with our authentic sound
effects. People attending the show become our "live studio
audience".
