This photo shows the two original nose sections after being cut from the main body. The shape on one was good enough to make templates to create a buck as well as flexible patterns. In the upper right corner is a new nose ready to weld to the front of the main body. |

One of the original fenders
after removing all the paint and working out the dents.
The marked lines are the original weld seams. My guess is the manufacturer made simple press tools to form the small panels which were then gas-welded together and hand finished. The original welds are very well done. |

Starting on the new front fenders. One fender from each car was used to make a wire -frame buck. A grid of 1/4" steel rod is shaped and welded together. Polyester body filler is spread over the rods to copy the exact contour. |
