ERA 427 Cobra

The heart of the machine .a 428 Cobra Jet. I spent a great deal of time putting this engine together. The block has bored, decked, and align bored. I completely deburred the block and all the oil passages were enlarged and smoothed. I ordered custom forged pistons for a 10.2:1 compression ratio. ARP main studs were installed along with Wave-Lok rod bolts. The rods were deburred and shot peened. The heads have hardened exhaust seat inserts, a little port work, and adjustable rocker arms. A Canton 7 quart road race pan finished off the bottom end.

The empty engine bay. I made aluminum panels to cover the fiberglass wheel wells. Just another detail that helps bring the car closer in appearance to an original.

More aluminum work to cover the fiberglass in the rear wheel wells. The aluminum fuel cell comes with the car from ERA and has some of the best weld beads you will ever see.

A close-ratio 24" NASCAR Toploader ready to go in the car. This is "the" transmission to put behind a torque monster like a 428 CJ.

The front suspension. Spax adjustable coil-over shocks and the standard 11" disc brake set-up.

A 3:31 posi-traction Jaguar rear end assembly in the ERA supplied tubular subframe. The entire assembly is built up in the cage as shown here and takes about 15 minutes to install in the car.
