Abstract In the current market, producing designs in a quick and cost-efficient manner is absolutely critical. To achieve this, designers must understand the use of processes related to rapid prototyping, which change as new equipment and materials enter the market in order to meet the demands of rapid prototypers. Rapid injection molding (RIM) is one of these processes and is essential in taking a design from art to part. For many people RIM is best kept as a service that is hired out on a project-by-project basis. However, when jobs become frequent and the number of parts needed becomes numerous, the investment in RIM equipment may be something to evaluate. The initial investment in equipment can be as low as $5,000 to $7,000. XX
