Author Sherif Nasser

Source Time Compression Technologies. v6 n8 Oct., 2001, pp 18-23

Abstract Through the use of simple equipment and special silicone mold technology, spin casting provides extremely fast and cost-effective tooling for zinc and plastic components. Whether the need is for prototyping, test marketing, bridge production or after market servicing, casting complex designs in small to medium quantities can be a nightmare. Spin casting technology provides an alternative to produce a wide variety of fully functional zinc and plastic components. This article discusses how the spin casting process works and applications from diverse industries, as well as illustrate how various companies were able to efficiently use the technology and practically eliminate high setup costs and long leadtimes for research and product development, as well as short-run purposes.
