Abstract Three companies - Herbst LaZar Bell, Inc. (Chicago, IL) - offering turnkey innovation and select services in market/user research, industrial design, engineering and prototyping; Motorola (Schaumburg, IL) - provider of integrated communications and embedded electronic solutions; and the David Clark Company (Worcester, MA) - provider of quality communication solutions for high-noise environments - recently teamed up to design a new two-way wireless communication device targeted to the racing circuit. But the real story behind this headset is how the team of designers and engineers from all three companies worked under a tightly compressed development timeframe to - literally - make it to the finish line on time. From sketchpad to pit stop in just under six months, the Motorola racing headset was first launched at the Indy 500. XX
