Abstract Deciding on the right 3-D CAD system for your business has gotten a lot easier these days thanks to the glut of options available to the buyer. Today's high-powered PC computers can handle almost anything - from part designs to toolpath programs. Manufacturers are no longer pigeonholed into buying large, expensive systems if they don't really need to. But choosing from among these systems depends in large part on what you want. In many cases it is possible to get free, limited function demonstration versions from the software companies, which can be helpful for the company that likes to sample before it buys. When researching CAD purchases, it's always helpful to go directly to the horse's mouth: getting opinions from manufacturers already working with the systems or the software companies putting them out.
