Abstract The research done by University of Birmingham's Interdisciplinary Research Centre (IRC) in the field of rapid manufacturing is discussed. IRC is also selected as core partner in the PowdermatriX Farady Partnership which includes ceramic processing, gas atomization of metal powders and metal injection moulding. IRC is also doing research in the field of net-shape HIPing of powder. (Auth abstract) XX
