Abstract This paper presents the concept and implementation framework for an integrated and automated (or computer aided) process planning (CAPP) system for advanced machining processes (AMPs) along with its need, and objectives. Development of such a CAPP system mainly involves: selection of basic type of manufacturing process, selection of appropriate AMP, and parametric optimization and detailed process planning of the selected AMP. The paper also presents the conceptual details and guidelines for accomplishment for each of the above-mentioned tasks. [References: 17] (Auth abstract) XX
