There were other Pascagoulans who went off, by themselves, for various reasons to join an outfit of their choice. Henry Gautier joined the 24th Mississippi Battalion and L. N. Dantzler jointed Woodruff's Rifles in Alabama. But the outfit to join was the pride of Pascagoula, the Twiggs Rifles. Most of the famous old names of Pascagoula could be seen on this roster: Thomas Canty, Valentine Delmas, Jr., Alfred Dupont, Louis J. Frederic, Arthur Krebs, Erasmus Griffin, Henry Gautier and David Trehern.
