CHANGE PLACES

  From this point, form the circle and be ready for

instructions before starting the tape.  Instructions

to CIRCLE UP are omitted to speed lessons.

  CHANGE PLACES is a two-measure, six-step pattern.

Start from CLOSED POSITION Man face wall on-R and end

in CLOSED POSITION Man facing center on-R.   MEASURE

ONE of CHANGE PLACES is also cued as ARCH AND CHANGE

SIDES.  MEASURE TWO of CHANGE PLACES is also cued as

FORWARD, FACE, CLOSE.

  CLOSED position Man face wall on-R.  CHANGE PLACES

means to change places with partner.  Now CHANGE

PLACES with partner in any manner you wish.  CHANGE

PLACES puts Man facing center and Girl facing wall.

OK, now CHANGE PLACES with partner again, to end in

CLOSED position Man facing wall and Girl facing

center.

|

ARCH AND CHANGE SIDES;

  Take CLOSED position Man face wall on-R.  Raise

joined LEAD HANDS (Man's L-hand to Girl's R-hand)

higher than Girl's head.  Joined LEAD hands form an

ARCH.  Always ARCH with joined LEAD hands unless told

otherwise.  Raise the ARCH high enough for Girl to

pass under without stooping or squatting.  Girl will

pass under the ARCH to center or INSIDE of circle, as

Man passes behind her to OUTSIDE of circle.  ARCH AND

CHANGE SIDES:  Start in CLOSED position Man facing

wall on-R and end in L-OPEN position both facing

dance-line.  CLOSED position Man face wall on-R and

ARCH LEAD hands.  Waltz three steps to L-OPEN

position both facing dance-line.  Go ARCH & CHANGE

SIDES: 1, 2, 3;  Man ends on-L, Girl on-R.

|

FORWARD, FACE, CLOSE;

  MEASURE TWO starts in L-Open position both facing

dance-line Man on-L and ends in CLOSED position Man

facing center on-R.  The steps are: 1. Forward toward

dance-line heel to toe step,  2. Forward on ball

1/4-turn to face partner, blend to Closed position

Man facing center; 3. Close on flat; end in CLOSED

position Man facing center on-R.

  Repeat the double measure CHANGE PLACES pattern to

return Man to the center of the hall.  From CLOSED

position Man facing center on-R.  Ready: ARCH and

CHANGE SIDES in three steps waltz to L-Open both

facing reverse.  Go: 1, 2, 3;  Now move toward

reverse: FORWARD toward reverse, Forward toward

reverse on ball 1/4-turn FACE partner, 3. CLOSE;  End

in Closed position Man facing wall on-R.

  Repeat the tape as required.  Then stop the tape

and walk the CHANGE PLACES figure with self cues.

  Now combine the BOX pattern with the CHANGE PLACES

pattern.  WALK THRU of the exercise routine.  Take

Closed position Man face wall on-R, ready:

ACKNOWLEDGE

  ACKNOWLEDGE is a one-measure, one-step (a single

step in three beats) pattern.  A single step is taken

on the first beat of the 3 beat waltz measure.

FACING POSITION Man face wall on-R.  Start ten inches

apart.  Man's R-hand joined with Girl's L-hand.

Acknowledge partner, both take one small step back or

APART, away from partner on beat one.  Man 1/4 L-turn

on-L L-toe pointed toward dance-line.  Leave free-R

extended in place to mark starting spot.  Man is now

standing on-L (Girl on-R with free-L marking her

starting place).  On beat two raise heel of free

foot, little toe of free foot touching the floor at

starting spot, this free foot action is called a

POINT.  HOLD the position and point on beat three,

Man standing on-L R-pointed, Girl opposite.  Stand

tall and look partner in the eyes.  Free arm extended

at Girl's shoulder level.  Joined hands extended at

Girl's shoulder level.  Heads up, remember the

purpose of this action is to ACKNOWLEDGE partner.

Never look at pointing foot.  Look at partner, smile,

and anticipate a romantic musical interlude.

  Most dances begin and end by ACKNOWLEDGMENT of

partner.  ACKNOWLEDGE partner in a graceful manner.

Again FACING POSITION Man face wall on-R.  Stand

tall, ready: STEP APART, POINT, HOLD;.

|

INTRODUCTION

  Most dances begin with an ACKNOWLEDGE followed by

RECOVER TOUCH.   RECOVER TOUCH is a one measure, one

step pattern which places dancers in STARTING

POSITION.  Take FACING POSITION Man face wall on-R,

ready:  ACKNOWLEDGE: Step apart, point, hold; freeze

in this position.  The next action is a single step

together blending to BUTTERFLY position.  The pointed

foot, Man's-R & Girl's-L, marks the starting place.

On the together step RECOVER or return to spot marked

by POINTED FOOT.  Ready: Step together-R (Girl-L),

TOUCH free foot beside weighted foot blend to

butterfly, hold;.  TOUCH is when the ball of the free

foot touches the floor next to the weighted foot

without taking weight.  The ACKNOWLEDGE followed by

RECOVER TOUCH is the INTRODUCTION.

 Repeat the INTRODUCTION.  Facing Position Man face

wall on-R, ready:

  STEP APART, POINT, HOLD;

  STEP TOGETHER, TOUCH, HOLD.

  The together step is called RECOVER.  i.e. STEP

APART, POINT, HOLD;  RECOVER, TOUCH, HOLD;.

  The INTRODUCTION is cued as APART, POINT, - ;

RECOVER, TOUCH, - ; without the word HOLD.  Dancers

must remember the HOLD beat without being reminded.

Stop the tape and practice the INTRODUCTION several

times to self cues.  Then go to the next lesson.

|

BALANCE

  BALANCE is a three step single measure waltz

pattern.  BALANCE is danced as a six-step DOUBLE

MEASURE pattern.  Dance a DOUBLE MEASURE BALANCE

unless told otherwise.  BUTTERFLY position man face

wall on-R, ready:  BALANCE:

  1. Side toward dance-line,

  2. Behind on ball,

  3. Recover on flat;

end in BUTTERFLY man on-L.  A step on the ball is

also called a hover when followed by a recover step.

  Again with short cues.  Butterfly Man face wall

on-R, ready: BALANCE:

  1.  Side,  2. Behind,  3. Recover;

end in Butterfly man on-L.  Freeze Man on-L, opposite

Girl.  Now to BALANCE toward reverse.

  If you changed weight or milled around then take

Butterfly Position Man face wall on-L, ready:

BALANCE:

  1. SIDE toward reverse,

  2. BEHIND on ball,

  3. RECOVER in place on flat;

end in BUTTERFLY Man on-R.

  Now try the DOUBLE MEASURE BALANCE, or balance

first toward dance-line and then toward reverse.

BUTTERFLY Man face wall on R-foot, ready: BALANCE:

  Toward dance-line:  Side, behind, recover;

  Toward reverse:  Side, behind, recover;

Dance a double measure BALANCE pattern unless told

otherwise.

  Again, butterfly Man on-R, ready:

  BALANCE:  Side, behind, recover;

  Other way: Side, behind, recover;.

Stop the tape and practice the BALANCE to self cues,

review as necessary.  Then return and try with music.

  Walk the following.  FACING POSITION man face wall

on-R, ready:

  APART, POINT, - ;  RECOVER BUTTERFLY, TOUCH, - ;

  Re-walk for smoothness, timing and blending.  When

ready dance to music.

  Ready for music.  (Play music and cue above.)

Re-dance to music as needed, then go to summary

exercise.

FOOT WATCHING

  Take closed position Man facing wall.  Stand HIGH,

WIDE & HANDSOME.  Now look at your feet.  Notice what

happens.  You back away from partner to look at your

feet, breaking closed position.  Head and body are

tilted forward and down.  Body is bent at the hips

and waist.  Fanny protrudes to the rear.  Knees and

ankles are bent.  Head, body and leg posture are

destroyed.  This

demonstrates that dancers who look at feet degrade

appearance.

  Bent knee, hip and ankle joints produce spring like

action and cause bounce on steps.  Bouncing

interferes with timing, prevents smooth body movement

and is tiring.

  Foot watching confuses dancers.  The brain receives

signals from the feet instead of sending signals to

the feet.  Foot watching generates interference.

Foot movement sends signals to the brain by way of

the eyes.  Dancers who send and receive messages in

both directions tend to ignore the music and lose

cadence.  Once started a step must be completed.

Dancers must think of the next step, its direction

and timing while completing the on-going step.  There

is not enough time to complete a step before thinking

of the next step.  Foot watching fills the mind with

what is happening, not what comes next.  Take a good

long look at your feet and say "I shall never watch

my feet while dancing".  Good, now I will never see

you look at your feet again.  Think about the feet,

teach them to follow your thoughts and obey without

being watched.  Dance High, Wide and Handsome.

  Rewind the tape and repeat the last summary

practice exercise without foot watching.  Review

lessons for problems.  Start next lesson after

resolving problems.

VINE AND THRU WALTZ

  VINE & THRU WALTZ is a six-step two-measure figure.

VINE & THRU WALTZ may be cued as VINE SIX or VINE.

VINE is a three-step one-measure pattern.  VINE is

short for GRAPEVINE.  Imagine a GRAPEVINE or VINE

weaving in and out of openings on a fence.  BUTTERFLY

position Man face wall on-R, ready:

  1. Side-L toward dance-line (Girl side-R),

  2. Behind-R on ball in back of-L (Girl's behind-L),

  3. Side-L on flat toward dance-line (Girl side-R);.

end in BUTTERFLY facing wall Man on-L.

  Try again with short cues.  BUTTERFLY Man face wall

on R-foot, ready:

  VINE: Side, behind, side;

End in BUTTERFLY Man facing wall on L-foot.  Freeze

remain in BUTTERFLY Man on L-foot.  If you changed

feet or position then, take BUTTERFLY Man on L-foot,

R-foot free, ready:  Now add the THRU WALTZ pattern.

  1. Step THRU toward dance-line to face partner,

  2. Step Side on ball toward dance-line,

  3. Close in place on flat;

end in BUTTERFLY Man facing wall on R-foot.

  BUTTERFLY POSITION Man on-L, free-R, ready:

THRU WALTZ:  Thru, side, close;  End BUTTERFLY Man

on-R.

  Walk VINE & THRU WALTZ as a six-step two-measure

pattern.  Take BUTTERFLY Man face wall on-R, ready:

VINE & THRU WALTZ:

  VINE: Side, behind, side;

  THRU WALTZ: Thru, side, close;

end in BUTTERFLY Man facing wall on-R, freeze.  If

you changed position or weighted foot then, take

BUTTERFLY Man on-R.  Always retain ending position

and weighted foot.  Instructions often follow which

require starting from that posture.

  BUTTERFLY Man face wall on-R.  That's in case you

did not retain the ending position.  Ready: VINE &

THRU WALTZ:

  Side, behind, side;  In front, side, close;

Freeze and retain that posture.  You should be in

BUTTERFLY Man on-R.

  Again, ready:  VINE & THRU WALTZ:

  Side, behind, side; THRU, side, close;

Retain your posture.  Did you notice the term THRU.

THRU is used when dancers are facing partners, to

instruct them to step in front of their weighted

foot.  Cross free foot in front of weighted foot,

notice free feet pass THRU the space between

partners.  The term THRU comes from the fact that

both dancer's step THRU the space between partners.

  VINE & THRU WALTZ again.  This time let your body

turn about 1/8-turn on each step so the weighted foot

does not block the path of stepping foot.  Did you

retain BUTTERFLY Man on-R, ready:  one step at a

time.

  1. BOTH step side toward dance-line 1/8-turn face

DIAGONAL toward reverse,

  2. Step behind or in back of weighted foot 1/8-turn

to face partner,

  3. Step side toward dance-line 1/8-turn face

DIAGONAL toward dance-line;

  4. Step THRU toward dance-line 1/8-turn face

partner,

  5. Step side toward dance-line face partner,

  6. Close in place;

Retain this posture: BUTTERFLY Man facing wall on-R.

  DIAGONALS are directions 45 degrees from the

primary HALL DIRECTION.

  On VINE and THRU WALTZ let body turn on side and

behind steps to facilitate steps.  Ready:

VINE & THRU WALTZ:

  Side, behind, side;  Thru, side, close;

Retain posture: BUTTERFLY Man on-R.

  Practice VINE & THRU WALTZ to self cues, and review

the lesson as needed.  When ready, WALK THRU the VINE

& THRU WALTZ lesson exercise.

LEFT TURNING BOX

  The LEFT TURNING BOX is a 12 step, four measure

figure.  LEFT TURNING BOX is named for the

directional step cues "Forward, side, close;  Back,

side, close;  Forward, side, close;  Back, side,

close;".  These are the same direction steps used for

two boxes.  The difference is that a 1/4 L-turn is

made on the lead step of each measure.  Take closed

position Man face wall on R-foot.  Stay in  CLOSED

POSITION throughout the figure, ready:

  MEASURE ONE: Forward-L toward the wall 1/4 L-turn

face dance-line (Girl back-R), side-R on ball toward

wall, close-L; End in closed position Man facing

dance-line on-L, freeze & retain posture.

  MEASURE TWO: Step back-R toward reverse 1/4 L-turn

face center (Girl forward-L), step side-L toward

reverse on ball, close-R; end closed position Man

facing center on-R, freeze & retain posture.

  MEASURE THREE: Forward-L toward center 1/4 L-turn

face reverse (Girl back-R), side-R on ball toward

center, close-L on flat; end Closed position Man

facing reverse on-L, freeze and retain posture.

  MEASURE FOUR: Back-R toward dance-line 1/4 L-turn

face wall (Girl forward-L), Side-L toward dance-line

on ball, close-R on flat; end closed position man

facing wall on-R; freeze & retain posture.

  You made 1/4 L-turn per measure.  A 1/4 L-turn is

made on each forward and each back step, the LEAD

steps.  Review the L-TURNING BOX as needed.  The

footpath is one large square.  Dancers end on the

original starting spot in the same starting posture.

Review the instructions, then WALK THRU with these

shorter cues.   Closed position Man face wall on-R,

ready:  L-TURNING BOX:

  Forward face dance-line, side, close;

  Back face center, side, close;

  Forward face reverse, side, close;

  Back face wall, side, close;

  Re-walk the L-TURNING BOX with short cues till cues

and steps are understood.  Re-walk with other

partners if available.  Short cues are often easier

to understand and respond to.  Listen carefully for

the difference between the cues BOX and L-TURNING

BOX.

  Practice as needed for smooth flow, then go to the

next lesson.

THRU TWINKLE

  THRU TWINKLE is a three step single measure waltz

pattern.  THRU TWINKLE is often danced as a double

measure six step pattern.  Remember the THRU step?,

where both partners cross in front or THRU the space

between partners.  Remember the VINE & THRU WALTZ

pattern.  Remember the THRU TURN pattern.  THRU

TWINKLE is a variation of the THRU WALTZ and THRU

TURN.  Face partner and wall in BUTTERFLY POSITION,

ready:

  WALTZ AWAY to OPEN POSITION facing dance-line, go

1, 2, 3; freeze.  This leaves you in OPEN POSITION

facing dance-line man on-L, free-R.  OK.

  THRU WALTZ to BUTTERFLY go THRU, SIDE, CLOSE;

freeze with man on-R.

  Now THRU WALTZ toward reverse, ready: go step THRU

toward reverse to BUTTERFLY, SIDE, CLOSE; freeze

ending in BUTTERFLY with Man on-L.

  The THRU WALTZ toward dance-line and then toward

reverse are THRU TWINKLES.  Back up the tape and

re-walk THRU TWINKLE until understood.

  THRU TWINKLES performed as THRU WALTZES are awkward

from rigid BUTTERFLY position.  The THRU TWINKLE

flows best with steps and body mechanics which blend

and position body on each step.  BUTTERFLY POSITION

man face wall on-R, ready:

  WALTZ AWAY to OPEN position facing dance-line, go:

AWAY, 2, 3; freeze, Man on-L.

  Next you THRU WALTZ toward dance-line.  Step words

for the THRU WALTZ are THRU, SIDE, CLOSE;  Turn to

face partner on the THRU step, turn to face reverse

on the SIDE step, CLOSE on step three; and freeze

ending in L-OPEN POSITION facing reverse man on-R.

The turn and blend from OPEN facing dance-line to

L-OPEN facing reverse, positions you to dance a THRU

TWINKLE toward reverse.

  From L-OPEN position facing reverse man on-R ready:

THRU TWINKLE toward reverse go: Step THRU toward

reverse turning to face partner, step side toward

reverse turning to face dance-line in OPEN position,

close; freeze in OPEN man on-L.

  Now THRU  WALTZ to BUTTERFLY: ready go: THRU, SIDE,

CLOSE; freeze in BUTTERFLY man on-R.  THRU TWINKLES

are easier with less explanation.

  Try THRU TWINNKLE with the following short cues:

  Take BUTTERFLY Man face wall, ready:

 APART, - , POINT, - ; RECOVER BUTTERFLY, - , TOUCH,

- ;

  WALTZ AWAY:  Away, 2, 3; to OPEN facing dance-line.

  THRU TWINKLE: Thru toward dance-line, side, close;

to L-OPEN facing reverse.

  THRU TWINKLE: Thru toward reverse, side, close; to

OPEN facing dance-line.

  THRU WALTZ: Thru toward dance-line, side, close; to

BUTTERFLY.

  When ready try the THRU TWINKLES with measure cues.

BUTTERFLY Man face wall on-R, ready:

WALTZ AWAY;  THRU TWINKLE dance-line;

THRU TWINKLE reverse;  THRU WALTZ butterfly;

  Again:

WALTZ AWAY;  THRU TWINKLE;

directions are understood, then walk thru the

practice exercise.

TWIRL & THRU WALTZ

  CAUTION: Some Girls get dizzy on TWIRLS and ROLLS,

or have problems raising their arms.  Girls do not

have to TWIRL or ROLL.  Man never FORCE TWIRL a Girl!

  TWIRL is a three step single measure waltz pattern.

A THRU WALTZ follows the TWIRL to return dancers to

starting position.  Man's part is VINE & THRU WALTZ.

The same steps and body mechanics of the VINE & THRU

WALTZ pattern, except Man's LEAD or L-HAND is held

above the Girl's head.

  Take BUTTERFLY Man face wall on-R.  Girl stay put,

remain in place.  Man only ready: VINE three steps

toward dance-line, go: SIDE, BEHIND, SIDE; freeze -

wait right there.  Girl and look at the Man, notice

that he progressed down dance-line.  Girl you are

going to ROLL a FULL R-turn in three steps to face

the Man.  Now Girl only, man remain in place, ready:

ROLL THREE:  1. side-R  1/2 R-turn face wall, side-L

on ball 1/2 R-turn to face center, side-R face the

Man.  To dance Girl ROLLS 3 as Man VINES 3.  Try the

two parts together.

  Butterfly man on-R, ready: Girl ROLL-3 man VINE-3

go: 1, 2, 3;

  Practice the Girl ROLL-Man VINE pattern.  When

understood, add a follow-on THRU WALTZ pattern.  Take

butterfly Man on-R, ready:

  ROLL-VINE & THRU WALTZ.

Practice the combined patterns several times, GIRL

ROLL & THRU WALTZ as Man does VINE & THRU WALTZ.

Remain  adjacent to partner as you progress down

dance-line.  Practice ROLL-VINE & THRU WALTZ for

smooth flow.

  The Man's second step of VINE is a behind step.

The behind step places his L-arm and shoulder

adjacent to the Girl, and it is easy hold his L-HAND

over her head.  The Girl's ROLL & THRU WALTZ is

changed to TWIRL & THRU WALTZ by arching LEAD HANDS

above her head as she ROLLS.  Do not HOLD arched LEAD

HANDS, just maintain hand contact.  Raise arched

hands high enough so she can dance tall as she rolls

under the arch.  Girl do not squat or stoop to roll

under the arch, push the arch up or break hand

contact if Man does not reach above your head.  Girl

may ROLL instead of TWIRL if raising her arm to twirl

is a problem.  Girl always dance tall, never stoop or

squat.

  Man hold your L-hand over Girl's head to TWIRL, she

maintains the hand contact.  Let her TWIRL without

help.  Never push or crank her to TWIRL.  To TWIRL or

NOT to TWIRL is entirely her prerogative.  The cue

TWIRL is one of the few cues directed to the Girl

instead of the Man.  Man learn to VINE to the cue

TWIRL.

  Walk TWIRL & THRU WALTZ, ready: Butterfly Man face

wall.

TWIRL & THRU WALTZ go:

  1, 2, 3;  2, 2, 3;  end in butterfly.

Repeat.

  1, 2, 3;  2, 2, 3;.

Repeat,

  TWIRL & THRU WALTZ

man remember to VINE as Girl TWIRLS.

Practice walk TWIRL & THRU WALTZ, then walk thru the

exercise.

DIP & MANEUVER

  DIP is one step taken on beat one of a measure.

DIP is an exception to the 3-Steps per measure waltz

rhythm rule.  DIP on beat one and hold DIP position

on beats two & three.  Closed position man face wall

on-R.  Remember in closed position aim R-foot between

partner's feet, and aim L-foot outside partner's-R.

Shoulders parallel.  Girl look over L-hand.

  Beat 1. Man take small step back-L toward center

leave R-foot touching floor at starting point.  Hold

this posture on beats two & three.  Man's free-R

marks the spot for a recover step.  The small back

step is similar to the APART step of the Acknowledge.

Face partner & wall, ready:  APART, point, freeze - ;

Man, that is the same back step used to DIP.

  In closed position Girl step froward-R on beat one,

leave L-toe in place touching the floor to mark the

recovery spot, point L-toe toward wall, hold.  Stay

in closed position.

  Closed position man face wall, ready.  Now remain

in closed position.  DIP: Step back toward the

center, hold, hold;  Repeat the DIP.  Closed position

face wall, ready, DIP:  Step back, hold, hold;  stop

the tape and repeat several times, cue yourself.

  The DIP is awkward if the Man steps straight back

and Girl straight forward toward the center.  It

pulls the Girl forward and off balance, and she uses

the Man as a crutch for support.  Modify the DIP step

to improve comfort and appearance.  Remember, take a

small step, stand tall and retain individual balance.

Closed position face wall.  Man take a small step

back-L with a 1/4 L-turn face dance line placing

L-heel about 4 inches behind R-heel, L-toe pointed

toward dance-line.  Man's weighted-L forms a letter V

with his free-R.  Stand tall on-L with body facing

dance-line.

  Girl step forward-R 1/4 L-turn to face reverse,

aim-R between Man's feet, free L-toe marks the

recovery spot.  L-toe rotates on the recovery spot to

point away from R-foot to form a letter V with

R-foot.  Stand tall on-R maintain individual balance.

  Now DIP again.  Closed position face wall, ready,

go:  DIP, hold, hold;  Do a 1/4 L-turn to DIP

position.  The DIP should be comfortable for both

partners and permit individual balance.  Practice the

DIP for comfort.

  2. side-L toward dance-line quarter turn face

reverse.

  3. CLOSE

end in closed position facing reverse;.  Remember,

cues are directed to the Man.  This is called

MANEUVER position.

  Again, this time follow the DIP with a MANEUVER.

Closed position Man face wall, ready, stay in closed

position.   DIP & MANEUVER go:

  DIP, hold, hold;  Recover, turn, close;

TWO TURNING WALTZES

  TWO TURNING WALTZES, a two-measure six-step R-turn

pattern danced in closed position.  A R-turn is

clockwise rotation as viewed from above.  The R-turn

is also know as a NATURAL TURN or NATURAL.  The cue

TURN means R-turn unless modified by the direction

LEFT.  Turn right unless told otherwise.  Turning

waltzes in the lessons start from MANEUVER POSITION

[Closed position Man facing reverse on-R].  The DIP &

MANEUVER figure places you in MANEUVER POSITION for

dancing TWO TURNING WALTZES.  Dancers progress down

dance-line on TWO TURNING WALTZ patterns.  Progress

on turning steps.  If awkward at first, continue to

think progress on turns.  Turns flow smooth only in

closed position with progression.  Stay in closed

position throughout TWO TURNING WALTZ patterns.

  1. To progress toward dance-line from MANEUVER

POSITION Man must step back-L toward dance-line.

Turn 1/4 R-turn on the back step to face center.

(Girl forward-R between Man's feet 1/4 R-turn face

wall.  End Man facing center on-L,

  2. Side-R on ball toward dance-line 1/4 R-turn Man

face dance-line,

  3. Close-L on flat;

  4. Man forward-R toward dance-line 1/4 R-turn face

wall.  (Girl back-L 1/4 R-turn face center) end

closed position Man facing wall,

  5. Side-L toward dance-line, do not turn on this

side step.  Man is facing wall,

  6. Close-R.  End in closed position Man facing wall

on-R;

  Again with fewer words.  Take MANEUVER position Man

face reverse on-R, ready: remember progress toward

dance-line step one is a man's back step.  TWO

TURNING WALTZES go:

  Back face center, side face dance-line, close;

  Forward & face wall, step side, close;   Re-walk

several times then continue.

  Again with these cues.  MANEUVER POSITION.

Progress toward dance-line.  Man's first step is back

toward dance-line, ready: TWO TURNING WALTZES go:

  TURN, TURN, CLOSE;  TURN, TURN, CLOSE;.

Re-walk several times then continue.

  Walk-thru several times with the following cues.

MANEUVER POSITION.  Ready: TWO TURNING WALTZES go:

  Girl into Man, turn, close;

  Man into Girl, turn, close;.

The phrase "Girl into Man" means Girl step forward-R

between Man's feet.  "Man into Girl" means Man step

forward-R between girl's feet.

  Important: keep a tight closed position on turns,

shoulders parallel, R-foot aimed between partner's

feet and Girl looking over her L-hand.  Take small

steps and dance high, wide and handsome.  OK,

practice this lesson.  Also review this lesson at the

next session.
