What is Precious Metal Clay?

Precious Metal Clay, or PMC, is a revolutionary new material. It’s a putty like mixture of silver powder, water and a binder. It's shaped, molded, textured, and then fired in a kiln at 1630 degrees to "burn out" the binder. After firing, the piece becomes about 40% smaller than the original size and has been transformed into fine silver. The piece is then polished, burnished and sometimes an acid is applied to give a patina finish to the final object.
