Minutes of the September 9th Kickoff Meeting @ Ken Bowar's House (Thanks Ken!!!)

Call to Order: 7:20 PM, 13 Members Present

Secretary's Report: Minutes from the previous meeting approved as read.

Treaurer's Report: Randy reviewed the details of Founder's Day. 65 people attended the event. Membership for the current year is at 26. Randy also described the details of the transition to the Calendar Year books from the Academic Year. The financial details can be seen in his report. His report was approved.

President's Comments: The president referred to the homecoming theme for the year as is seen on the back of the agenda for the meeting.

2004-2005 Committee Reports

Ronald McDonald House Dinner: No date has been chosen yet. It will be the chapter's responsibility to feed and serve the tenants. The current plan is to do this sometime this October or November. A sign up sheet was passed around. Katie Brown and Jean Boray have agreed to lead this activity.

Founder's Day: Barry Paye has agreed to be the Founder's Day Director. The speaker selection form will need to be filled out by October 1st.

Newsletter Schedule: Gerry Meyer has stated that he would like to receive assistance on the newsletter. Approximately 100 have been sent out in each of last year's mailings. Items for the newsletter were discussed, and it was decided that the next letter will be sent out in Mid November. One of the subjects will be the Ronald McDonald House dinner.

New Board of Directors: Jim & Judy Sloan, Steve Prince, and Dave & Ann Dykstal have been unanimously elected to the Board of Directors for the 2004-05 year. Congrats!

Rochester Chapter Webpage: The webpage contact and other info have been updated. This raised the discussion of the official chapter name. By vote, Rochester Univeristy of Wisconsin Alumni Club beat out University of Wisconsin Alumni Club of Rochester. Gerry also mentioned the SEARCH program and the need for volunteers.

Business (Old, New, Other)

Business Sponsor for Scholarships: No Update

Scholarship Program: New contacts needed for Byron/Mazeepa and Pine Island/Zumbrota School Districts. Jim and Judy Dykstal have agreed to be the contacts for Stewartville High School. Gerry Meyer ran through the updated Website Scholarship Program info.

Board of Directors meeting place and time: Need to find a place. Whistle Binkie's is no longer able to accommodate us. Efforts will be made to try and find a place on the 1st Thursday of the month, possibly a little earlier in the evening (6pm ish) in town.

Band Concert in Rochester: Discussion involved having the UW Marching Band in Rochester as part of the Civic Music program. More discussion will follow.
