Hi all,
Well, lots of people have been asking me what's been going on in my life lately and I realized with work being so busy that I haven't taken time to let people know what's been going on in my life lately. So, here it is, not quite as exciting as the last year has been, but its getting better as the days go by.
I'll start with my return to the U.S. as most of you know all about my recent travels in Australia and New Zealand. More details on those travels are available on some of the links from the home page.
One of my friends gave me a United buddy pass to fly back to the U.S. on, but because of the season right before Christmas, it took me two days to get out, and I barely made it at that. Buddy passes are great, but going 10 days before Christmas is not an exercise in wisdom on the users part! I did manage to get on the flight... the last person for that flight. Good thing too because the next three days were more than booked.
So, my somewhat interesting exit from Australia deposited me back in San Francisco for a few days visit with a friend from Sydney, Arne and a few of his friends. Good thing Arne had some good friends who were nice enough to give me sleeping room! San Francisco was good. Arne took me around and did some sight seeing, then a party one night with some friends of his. I also managed to catch up with young Harvey from Sydney. He and a couple friends and myself rented mountain bikes and did a ride across the bay bridge and up into the hills. Not a very tough ride, but one of the most scenic ones I've ever been on, looking out over the bay, the bridge into the setting sun. Thanks for San Fran guys.
Following San was my "grand tour U.S.A." with stops in Michigan, Wisconsin for Christmas, and Florida for New Years. It was definitely good to see family and friends after over a year away. Reminds me of how important family and friends are. New Years... well, Orlando is still one of my favorite places to play, and it lived up to its reputation one more time. I'll see you all for the cruise in the fall.
Of course all things come to an end, and the travel had to end. Yes, even travellin' Rog has to go to work some day. Base24 work has been really slow in the U.S. lately and three weeks of looking came up with nothing but waiting for phone calls. A couple of friends who have their own consulting company here in Denver with several clients needed help so I signed up and am now working with them doing several things. Doing a little TAL programming, and teaching Prognosis, a systems monitoring and performance tool. Between the several clients LBT has I get plenty of time here in Denver and some on the road as well. On top of it all I get a lot of variety in work so, not a bad gig. How long will it last?
What does the future have in store? How long will I be in Denver? Don't know, can't say, but as long as the ride is here and its good, I'll be on it. So, for the near future, if you or anyone you know is going to be passing through Denver, give me a bell, we'll play catch up! There are several reasons for me to stay in the U.S. through the end of the year, but after that all bets are off. Who knows where y'all will hear from me next. In the mean time, if any of you want my snail mail address or number, here it is:
