My graduate thesis project deals with several aspects of red drum fishing in
South Carolina. Captain Rick has been a great resources into the world of
lowcountry inshore fishing. As soon as he heard about my thesis project, he
jumped right in. He filled out logbook information for over 100 redfish he
caught in the fall of 2004. This fall, 2005, when I was having a hard time
catching redfish, he volunteered to show me some spots. We had a great day on
the water, and we caught some nice fish! He is extremely knowledgeable about the
fish as well as the inshore waters around Charleston. I’ve met several of the
fishing guides in coastal South Carolina, and Captain Rick is by far the most
cooperative, reliable, and interested guide I have had the pleasure of
meeting!

My family and I were on a trip with you this summer. It was super hot, but we
had a blast! My experience was so exceptional I took fishing up as a hobby and

"Our fishing charter with Capt. Hiott was excellent. My son Brad and I went
fishing with Capt. Hiott on 8/6/02. We caught many large ( 36 in. range red drum
) the fishing was never slow. It took over 2 1/2 hours to finally get 5 lines in
the water at once because we were constantly hooking up with fish. Capt. Hiott
is very knowledgable and professional, he made the trip a LOT of fun. I would
highly recommend Capt. Hiott to anyone who wants to catch a lot of BIG fish and
have a great time doing it. We also hooked up with several sharks and rays and
had a good time just trying to bring them in. It was evident that Capt. Hiott is
a true sportsman by the great care he took in handling, tagging and releasing
