The Maritime and Newfoundland Airways issue is
discussed in Robson Lowe's ENCYCLOPEDIA OF BRITISH EMPIRE STAMPS,
Vol.5,Part IV., and I quote: "These labels come in four forms:
a. Proofs in black on silver paper with error "Official"(...?)-sheets of
three. b. As (a), but with the error corrected - in sheets of four. c. As
illustrated (at your site as #218) in red on yellow, imperf or perf-sheets
of twenty. d As (c) but on orange paper."
I have four of these labels., including a black on yellow
paper(identical to your copy) and two others with red on yellow paper with
different backgrounds from yours. I suspect that there has been posthumous
hanky-panky going on ("reprints" of unknown origin?). [Barry Danard]
