What is this item, some sort of Polish Legion stamp?
Polish Forces in Egypt. I think. Check Ruch after the Polish Legions in Italy section. [Jay Carrigan]
The name of the group translates to 'Polish Forces in the Middle East'. The stamp was a commemorative for the unit whose command post was at Kassasin, Egypt. The unit covered the two territorial regions of Egypt and Palestine. This was after the Polish army merged with the British War Office. The stamp was issued Nov. 16, 1947, at the main Fieldpost Office No. 101 and No. 114. It sold for 11 mls. per copy and 100,000 copies were printed in Cairo. From an article in the Polonus Bulletin of Oct-Nov 1952. [Ed Pieklo]
