| This label was on the back of an "Expres" letter sent from Kiev to Memphis in 1994. (The front also has a handstamped "999" impression.) So is this label a "pair" of stamps? Were they handstamped on gummed tape as needed? Do the ones on the back mean something different (as opposed to just adding a couple more handstamps to the front)? |
| The Ukraine 'stamps' were printed in many odd ways. I'll look this up and get back to you. 999 is the most they could put on a 3-digit stamp, and when rates got to 5500 then you get several 999s. No distinction in being on reverse - usually no more room on the front [Ian Billings] |
