| This is a 1938 Barcelona submarine post issue, part of a set of six with another 22 "color variations". This is one of the color variations - were these also valid for postage and how does their value compare with the original six? |
| The stamp you show is part of the imperforate variety which is about 15/20% dearer than the normal perforate issue. These stamps were valid for postal use. The 2ptas was issued in the standard colour of red-brown both perf. and imperf. They also issued a further 4 colour varieties in perf. and imperf. These colours were: blue, olive, yellow-green and "malva" (cannot translate it) as per catalogue. The colour varieties are worth 2/3 times the normal issue and the imperforate are also worth more. | There's also a 1988 souvenir sheet from Spain, perforated (non-postal?) showing three of these stamps. [Stetson Thomas] |
