Planet Xuxa
Xuxa is an alien from Planet Xuxa, who came to Earth in
a flying saucer.
Actually, this six-foot, blue-eyed blonde hails from Brasil, and her childhood nickname really is
"Xuxa" (shoo-sha). She does pop out of a flying
saucer at the beginning of "El Show de Xuxa". As hostess of several children's shows on
TV in Argentina, Brasil, and the USA, she is one of the most popular entertainers in the Hispanic
Americas. I like her songs: I'm long past six years old, but her songs are happy, energetic, and fun.
Chindolele!
First Issue
Set of four stamps, with portraits lifted from Internet web sites.
(Did I forget to say she's pretty, too?)
Second Issue
This design was based on an early Austrian poster stamp,
originally in slate blue, but edited and colored to mask various portraits.
So far I have resisted the urge to prepare a few with inverted centers!
Okay, okay, so I gave in!
Third Issue
I liked the contrast between the sedate seated portrait in white and the colorful (and often downright zany)
costumes she wears on her shows, thus I designed these two souvenir sheets.
Fourth Issue
I wanted to try some triangles. They were adapted from the 1908 Messina Earthquake fund-raising labels
(Sicilia-Calabria), but I did not make eleven values in ten different currencies like the original.

Note: all pictures used above were found on various sites on the Internet. My thanks go to the site
managers for making them available, and to the anonymous photographers who took them. These stamps
were created for fun, and out of respect for Xuxa, but if anyone feels I have violated their copyright by using
any of these images, please e-mail me and they will be
removed.
