A Brief History, etc.
A Brief History, etc.:
My experiences in keeping aquarium fish dates back
more than 20 years. My first serious experience with keeping fish
(other than that little goldfish bowl I had as a child) was in the mid-70's
when I bought my first 10- and then 27-gallon octagon tanks. I learned
the hard way how not to mix species as diverse as channel catfish and bettas
together, when the catfish ate the lone male betta, and then tried to eat
everything else in the tank as well. I have experimented with diatom
filters, internal cartridge filter systems, canister filters, undergravel
filters, power filters, power heads, and wet/dry systems. I currently
own a 55-gallon tank of fancy goldfish (along with corydoras catfish and
algae-eaters) and a 30-gallon tank of freshwater tropical fish (with many
of the types of fish I have included in this article). I hope to
provide anyone looking over this web site some of the knowledge I have
gained over the years on how to best pursue this hobby with a minimal of
cost and time involved.
