Riverside Parkway

Home of the Ziemers

Warrenville, Illinois

Welcome to Riverside Parkway -- our comfortable home, shaded by spruce and walnut trees, sunlight reflecting from the pond out back, the West Branch of the DuPage River half-hidden in the trees beyond.
I am Raymond Gene Ziemer, born in 1948 on the South Side of Chicago, where I enjoyed city life, growing up with loving parents, my grandmother, and two terrific sisters, pets, playthings, friends, plenty of books, plus Marquette Park and the whole of the city as a playground.
I attended Marquette public grade school, Hope Lutheran Church, Luther High School South, U of I at Chicago. Lifelong pursuits continue: Writing, reading, travel, the arts.
I became a junior high English teacher and married my high school sweetheart Dawn. Good years of apartment living in Oak Park followed, with summers of exploring the West, off-roading in Utah, climbing slickrock, camping, collecting Native American art, and exploring ruins all over the Southwest.
My two sons Thomas and Matthew join me now in some adventures, canoeing, hiking, exploring the back roads. Much time and energy is devoted to the business started by my late father, commercial construction and remodeling. Being your own boss may be a little overrated, but every day is an adventure! Dawn helps out, and has her hands full as we continue with the addition to our house on the Riverside. Meanwhile, I just have to make time for bicycling, canoe trips, and genealogy. And there are still so many more books to read, places to visit, adventures ahead!
