Great Head is just to the north of Sand Beach. In fact, the best way to hike to the top of Great Head is to park at Sand Beach and take the trail that starts from the north end of the beach. The hike is somewhat difficult but well worth the effort. It takes about forty-five minutes of hiking (each way), but allow much more time to admire the view. The views of Sand Beach and the "Beehive" are spectacular. You can also see down to Otter Cliffs and north to Bald Porcupine. And, this may be the best spot from which to view Egg Light.

A deer spotted close to the top.
