Egg Rock is a tiny island just to the east of Mount Desert Island. It's clearly visible from the shore path at Bar Harbor and the park loop road in Acadia National Park. Egg Light was built in the late 1800's. It has a red light and loud fog horn, and it's the home to many harbor seals. The whale watching boats and other tour boats pass close by it. The best place to view the light from other than a boat is probably from the top of Great Head, as shown below.
