Ancestors in Germany There are many other Rathke families in America who are from Germany also. I am interested in any information about the Rathke family in Germany or
in hearing from anyone who has family links to persons in this genealogy. I would like to find Frederick's and Wilhemina's ancestors in Germany.
Johann Rathke from Mechlemberg, Germany was born in 1810 and came to the USA in 1853 on the ship "Donau" He was married to Rachel "?" and they had 7 children. he later married Maria Haltz and they had 2 children.
Erdmann Rathke died April 23, 1895, Palmenthal, CA. He lived to be 71 years, among many other German pioneers. Another name listed among the
death records is that of Jacob Rathke who died September 30, 1891, and a child who
lived 2 years who's parents were Fredrick and Elizabeth Rathke.
Ludwig Rathke immigrated from Tilset? Germany in late 1800's and settled in Sharpsburg, Pa. He married Minnie Strehl. They had 7 kids named
Caroline, Fredrich, Albert, Edward, Samuel, Betty and Louis.
