Welcome

I am researching each of the families listed at the left.  A click on the family name will take you into their pages. Probably you have found your way here because you are related to one of these families. A summary of the principal family ancestor is listed below.

I have quite a bit of information on each family and I am willing to share it with other family members. I hope to extend what is known about these families by making these pages available on the internet and thereby stimulate a flow of family information from long distant relatives. I am interested in information which can link the tree to earlier generations, as well as any new births etc. that may be missing from these pages.

Please take a minute before you leave and let me know to which family you are related. Please do this by clicking Send Mail button on the left panel then completing either a mail message or guest entry (your choice). It will also be helpful if you will check the Lost and Found button on each family site. The Lost and Found contains fragments and mysteries I could use your help to solve.

The site has been redesigned using frames. I think you will find them well behaved and easy to use. However if you would prefer not to use them you may click the No Frames option above and navigate using a site map.

We have pretty complete Descendant Trees from the ancestors described in the Summary of Family Tree Pages below, however, private information including birth dates and some marriages have been removed for living individuals to protect their privacy over the internet. A Gedcom file is available to members of the respective family. Books containing complete information have been published for two of the families.

Summary of Family Tree Pages

Descendants of John R. Gartee and Mary Jane Abbot as well as Descendants of Peter Gartee and Rosanna Williams. This includes Gartee families originating or principally from Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. Gartees have been in America since at least the late 1700's and probably immigrated from France.

Descendants of Frederick Rathke and Wilhemina Duevel Rathke, are listed in these pages through the present (sixth) generation. Frederick Rathke and Wilhemina Duevel met and married in Mechlenburg Schwerin Germany. After the birth of their son, John, they emigrated to America, via the port of Hamburg Germany in 1871. They settled in Monroe County Michigan, first in Rasinville, then later moving to Dundee Michigan.

Descendants of Fred Howe and Magelena Koster, This small descendant chart traces a few generations of the descendants of Fred Howe and Magelena Koster, whose eldest daughter Bertha Howe married John Rathke. The descendants of John and Bertha Rathke are well represented as the main lineage in the section dealing with the Descendants of Frederick and Wilhemina Rathke. The main purpose of this genealogy is to provide reference to what few cousins we have information on who were descendants of Bertha Howe's siblings.

Descendants of  Hans Michael Eblen (who was born before 1700 in Germany.)  He was married to a woman named Hance in Holland. They immigrated to America about 1700 with their three sons. Six generations of Hans Eblens ancestors are also included. An Eblen Family Coat-of-Arms has been located and is illustrated on one of he pages.

Descendants of Alice Slone of Floyd County, Kentucky. Alice Slone was born in Patrick County Virginia, probably in the mid 1700's. She died in Knott County Kentucky. Alice, her son Shadrick, and  his brothers moved to Floyd County, Kentucky. Alice was the first women to settle in Floyd County in the Caney region. We do not know her maiden name nor her husband's first name.

Descendants of William de Thoroboughe of Thornborough in York County, England. The Thornsberry name is a variation of Thornsborough, which was also spelled as Thornsburgh by his son Sir William Thornsburgh. The  information I have is principally the Descendants of  Isaac Thornsberry, though some other lines are included. The family was settled in America by at least 1735. Their name was variously spelled Thornburgh, Thornsberry, and Thornsbury, in colonial records. All three families are descendant from Thornsboughe. His Ancestors forward from Ivo de Tailbois (who rode with William the Conquer in 1066) are detailed in a monograph.
