Teena
is a petite 11 year old (born 6/4/91) spayed black girl from show lines. She is vet
checked and declared to be in great shape for a girl her age.
She was given to Rescue by a breeder who had to get rid of all her dogs. Teena had
previously been passed around from breeder to breeder - having had at least 5 litters.
Teena is
related
to some of the dogs in the Fall 1998 "Multitude".
Teena had been shaved before she was given to Rescue. Her face has grown out some,
and we were able to pattern it into a cocker cut. She behaved marvelously. When it
was time for a bath, she had no objections, and when we were using the high power
air blower while she was still in in the empty tub, she stood with her head on the
rim and dozed off.
The one word
which describes Teena best is "sweet." She reminds us of the "resident
candy stripers" in a nursing home. She's the one who would be befriending the
less able residents - pushing their wheelchairs and making sure that the staff understood
their needs.
When Teena sees people, she is right there, asking to be petted. She doesn't understand
the concept of "stranger." Everybody is her friend. She likes other dogs,
and other dogs don't seem to object to having her around.
Like most dogs her age, Teena does a lot of serious sleeping. But when there's something
going on, she's right there to take part in it. Teena is a little hard of hearing
(selective?) - but her eyesight seems to be good.
Teena has spent the most recent years of her life as a housedog and is housebroken.
The ideal placement for Teena would be in a family with one or two other dogs who
wouldn't mind sharing their home for several years with a totally delightful senior
citizen.
