Rowdy is
an 8 years young red and white neutered male. He is up-to-date on shots, and is vet
checked and heartworm negative.
He was surrendered to Rescue by breeders as part of a deal whereby authorities
would not file neglect charges against them.
Rowdy's coat has been a victim of the neglect he's endured for a number of years.
Fleas, cheap food and worms do not promote coat growth. But Rowdy is a finished breed
Champion, and he did have lots of hair at one point. When it comes back it will surely
need regular grooming. When we had him up on the grooming table cleaning him up,
his reaction was, "Boy, I'm glad somebody remembered how to pamper me!".
Rescue located a show picture and pedigree in the 1995 Stud Issue of a breed magazine,
and he was gorgeous. Being tied up in a dog yard is a quite a come-down from the
show ring. However, Rowdy's temperament doesn't seem to have suffered - just his
body. And it is recovering.
Rowdy
is a love. He is affectionate to people and good around other dogs. He's fine with
the cat.
He will potty outside and is very good on a leash, but he still needs help with housebreaking.
It is a joy to watch him "strut his stuff".
