Pinto is
a brown roan and tan boy, born 09/24/01. He is current on shots, neutered and vet
checked.
He was given to Rescue by a retail establishment when he reached 5 months of age
and was considered no longer cute enough to sell. A multi-breed group assisted in
getting him into Cocker Rescue.
Pinto came to Rescue clean but with a very, very hairy face. This was the easiest
first haircut I've ever done. He just stood still and let me clip his face, under
his ears, around his mouth. He will probably have a good deal of coat and will need
regular combing and clipping.
This is a sweet little boy - essentially without issues. He is somewhat reserved
but seems to like all people. Because he spent much of his puppyhood exposed to a
number of caretakers, he may may never form an intense bond with one person, but
will likely be a friend of many. We won't place him in a home with toddlers, but
he would probably be fine with well behaved pre-teens.
Pinto hasn't
had a lot of life experiences - and it's been fun watching him adapt to living in
a house. That includes walking through doorways, going up and down stairs, and even
learning that you can't stand up underneath a chair or you'll bang your head! (Fortunately
he's a quick study) It's also interesting to observe what new experiences worry him
- that flock of Canadas overhead was definitely going to come down and abduct him
so he'd better hide behind fostermom's legs... But once he knows that something is
okay, he's fine.
He likes other dogs and plays with them but he'd be best placed where the family
and/or the current dog are used to living in a multi-dog household. Cats? He can
take them or leave them.
Housebreaking is an on-going project. He is good about keeping his crate clean. And
he potties immediately when taken outdoors. But he still doesn't fully understand
the concept that being out of his crate does not equate to being outside. He doesn't
need to go out frequently, but would need mid-day walks at least in the beginning.
