Jackson

Jackson is a blue roan and tan neutered male born on 11/19/94. He is up-to-date on shots, heartworm tested and vet checked.

He was one of the dogs rescued from a puppy mill which was closed down in late 1998.

He had been shaved down before we got him but his coat has come back beautifully. It does, however, require regular combing to keep it mat free.

Jackson's conformation is fairly good. And his temperament is extremely loving. It is amazing that these dogs have been through so much and still haven't lost that spaniel spirit.

After being in foster care for more than two years, Jackson has become housebroken - except for an occasional sideways glance at the vaccuum cleaner.

Jackson is part of a multi-dog household, and he is getting along fine with the rest of the dogs. He has great respect for the alpha girl in the house.

Because of his lack of socialization in his early years, Jackson is somewhat apprehensive when he meets new people - sometimes going so far as to scream at them. This has made it very difficult for him to make a good first impression on potential adoptive families. Yet once he knows somebody, when he sees that person again, his greeting is full of enthusiasm.

He is going to need to go to a fairly quiet home where he is not going to be exposed to a lot of activity - or else he needs an experienced dog owner to help him work through this fear.

He loves to snuggle on the couch and knows some basic commands, including sit and down and off.
