Clive

Clive is an 8 month old black & tan boy. He is neutered, current on shots, vet checked and heartworm tested.

He had been a Christmas puppy and was surrendered to Rescue by a family who couldn't housebreak him. He was placed for a couple of weeks but returned because this family didn't have time for him.

Clive has a fabulous coat. It has a hard texture and any mats just seem to wash out. He had not had a haircut before he came into Rescue, so he had inches of excess hair on his face and ears. We didn't get a great handle on how he would behave for an average haircut - because the cat decided to join Clive on the grooming table. Clive was so busy wondering why this alien creature was doing "rubbies" on him that his face was trimmed before he knew what happened.

His adoptive family toyed with Rescue for a several weeks, not sure whether or not they wanted to keep Clive. But they took him to a groomer and had him shaved naked. Then they returned him. It is going to take months for him to regrow his coat. We are optimistic that Clive's fabulous coat texture will be its salvation and that it won't come in like a Brillo pad.

He doesn't have a lot of confidence. He does some submissive urination. He needs to go to someone who can build his self-esteem and who will not mind wiping up an occasional accident. He is solidly crate trained.

He likes other dogs, and didn't attempt to challenge the cat.
