THE EIGHT:  REINDEER MONOLOGUES

New Razors Edge Production

Razors Edge Theatre presented The Eight:  Reindeer Monologues at the Nashville Music Institute December 8, 9, 15 and 16 at 8:00 PM.

Jeff Goode is a director, actor and author of over 50 plays, including
Portrait of the Virgin Mary Feeding the Dinosaurs, The Ring Cycle! -The Musical, and this dark Christmas comedy, The Eight: Reindeer Monologues, a play the Chicago Sun-Times called "a delightful adults-only send-up of both Christmas and the politically correct."

Scandal has erupted at the North Pole, bringing with it all the lawyers,
news crews and assorted scandalmongers that normally converge on any hint of impropriety in a public figure-in this case, old St. Nick himself, who has been accused of sexual improprieties and less-than-saintly behavior, including the rape of Vixen...and then there's the Rudolph incident.  Told as a series of monologues by each of the eight reindeer who pull the sled every Christmas eve, the play skewers our tendency to put cultural icons on a pedestal and our fascination when they fall from them, and does so while remaining wickedly funny. WARNING:   this is NOT a play for the kiddies.

Appearing as the reindeer in Razors Edge's production are many local theater favorites: Krys Collins (ACT I's Separate Tables) as Blitzen; Pat Rulon (Circle Players' Getting Away With Murder) as Vixen; Bill Herrick (ACT I's Children of a Lesser God) as Dasher; Clay Cozart (Circle Players' 42nd Street) as Cupid; John J. Devine (Circle Players' An Inspector Calls) as Hollywood; Andy Behrens (ACT I's Separate Tables) as Comet; Shelley Holmes (Circle Players' Side Show) as Dancer; and Michael Tajalle (Circle Players' Getting Away With Murder) as Donner. The play is directed by Mancia Davis (ACT I's Ten Little Indians), who has appeared onstage in Razors Edge's Sexual Perversity in Chicago, and most recently as Mrs. Pearce in ACT I's production of Pygmalion.

Performances are at the Nashville Music Institute, 203 McMillan Street, off Church Street between 15th and 16th Avenues.  Reservations are encouraged by calling the theatre at 773.7130 or e-mailing the theatre at razorzedge@worldnet.att.net.  Reserved tickets are $10.00; tickets purchased at the door are $11.00. There is ample, safe, well-lit parking just across the street from the
