Dr. Warshak's article, Parental Alienation and Social Science: Replacing Polemics with Reason," was published in May 2005 in a prestigious law journal in Germany. In addition, the journal thought enough of the article to make it available as a PDF file on its Website. According to a psychiatric colleague in Germany, "This is a tremendous success for your article." For those who read German, here is the link to the article. This article has not been submitted to any journals in the United States, but it is based on Dr. Warshak's article, "Bringing Sense to Parental Alienation: A Look at the Disputes and the Evidence."

Last week the California Supreme Court issued its opinion in the LaMusga relocation case. The Court's decision endorsed the arguments made in a brief written by Dr. Warshak and signed by 27 experts in the fields of divorce and child custody. Dr. Warshak's brief contained arguments and research citations similar to those in his monograph and journal publications on relocation. For a description of this work, click here.

Dr. Warshak's article, Who Will Be There When I Cry in the Night?: Revisiting Overnights, has been added to the catalog. This article is a follow-up to his previous work on the value of overnight contact between children and both parents. The article concludes that caution should be exercised before depriving young children of a valuable experience that can help sustain their normal interaction with both parents. The article will be particularly important to parents and attorneys who anticipate having to cope with expert testimony that attempts to refute the conclusions of Dr. Warshak's earlier article on Blanket Restrictions (CR21). HarperCollins has announced a new release date for DIVORCE POISON: Protecting the Parent-Child Bond from a Vindictive Ex. The book is currently scheduled to hit the shelves on January 8, 2001, although you might find it in your local bookstore a week sooner than that.

Dr. Warshak's article, Misdiagnosis of Parental Alienation Syndrome, will be published in January and added to the Custody Resources Catalog at that time. The article will be useful to parents, attorneys, and mental health professionals who are dealing with accusations of alienation. It describes and illustrates three general categories of situations that superficially resemble parental alienation syndrome and can be mistaken for it. Dr. Warshak hopes that this article will reduce the incidence of misdiagnosis of parental alienation syndrome and assist courts in dealing with allegations of parental alienation syndrome.
