| DOT ART |
| I had the great fortune of living
in Australia for two years. While there I saw an amazing sytle of painting done by
the Aborigines, called 'Dot Art.' I really liked the combination of simple lines and
shapes with a mixture of multi-sized and colored dots. I decided to combine the dot
art style with astronomical subjects and came up with what I think is a gorgeous
representational style of space art. I hope you like it....

"Sunspots" This painting depicts the roiling convection cells and spots on the surface of the Sun.

"Formation"
A solar system and planets coalesce out of cosmic dust. |

"Living Moon" and "Living Moons" An Earth-like moon orbits a gas giant, somewhere in space. First one came out so good that I was commisioned to do another. |
"Didgeridust" A didgeridoo is an aboriginal wind instrument made from a long hollow branch that is roughly the same shape as a comet. The thought occurred to me.... |

"Ringplane" A shepard moon orbits just outside the ringplane of a gas giant planet. A giant roiling storm passes by far below in the twisting clouds of the planet. Very large canvas, 74 inches wide, took over three months to paint the more than 10,000 dots in this. |

"In a Burst of Light" Legend says the universe began in a first great burst of light.... |
