RailNutterNews Issue 17: Brooklyn Trolley

The Brooklyn Historic Trolley

On a crisp clear cold sunny Sunday after Thanksgiving, we went to the Beard Street Warehouse Pier at the far end of Brooklyn, New York's Red Hook neighborhood to ride The Brooklyn Historic Trolley. I have seen some fantastic scenery in my trolley travels, but this is the only one from which you can see the Statue of Liberty right through the arched front windows as the trolley rolls along it's short harbor waterfront run. It was built in 1897 in Nuremberg, Germany (Elecktr. Aktieselsk. F. Schuckert & Co; Mschr. Act. Ges. No. 305). The organization also has three PCCs, acquired from Boston, which they plan to run on the streets of Brooklyn to provide tourist as well as local service.
