Here are some ignition problems people report:

Although I have a 2nd brand new Electroair ignition system sitting in the hangar, I haven't gotten it installed yet. My Soob mechanic is going to replace the timing belt drive gear, with a new one that Jeff Rose modified to trigger my 2nd Electroair system. Getting the right time set up to do it is a little hassle, but we'll get it done shortly.

So anyway, I am still running my RAF ignition as my 2nd ignition syetem, along with the original Electroair. My RAF ignition was replaced after 85 hours or so, as the original took a dump. It's been running O.K. for around 300 hours now, just a slightly lesser rpm than the Electroair during the runup check.

I ran into something for the 2nd time yesterday, so thought I should post it, especially for anyone still tooling around with a single RAF ignition. I have had my RAF ignition fail to fire up twice now during the runup check. I traced it the first time to the 3-wire inline connector right at the coils. I took it apart and cleaned it and checked the wiring and it's been running fine for a couple months. Yesterday, it did the same thing. I jiggled the connector and it joined in. I have a tach for each ignition system, so I can tell if one is not functioning.

I'm going to just eliminate this potential source of problems by splicing the wires directly to each other, rather than have the plastic connector joining them. This will be a lot safer and it's one less component to worry about.
