The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge. When an animal who has been especially close to someone here dies, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. With bright eyes intent and with eager body beginning to quiver your precious friend begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, on legs running faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together ...

Chrissy was with us only 5 years but they were the best 5 years of her life. She was lovable despite her ordeal and she brought so much joy to our lives. When we brought Jack home a year later from rescue she let him know that she was the head of our family. Thank goodness Jack was easy going. Chrissy was a wonderful girl and we will always have a part of our heart missing. We are thankful that she no longer is hurting and we long for the time to be with her again. Mom Dad and Jack.

Here is a picture of my baby, Honey Bun. She came into our life on
September 15, 1999 and departed on July 4, 2009. For 10 years, she brought
Steve and I lots of love, happiness, excitement, laughter. She was my
little alpha female and would always help me with my foster dogs. I always
knew when someone was at the door before they knocked or if Lucky or one of
the foster babies was into something they should not have been doing. She
gave the squirrels hell and one time, she actually caught and killed one.
She left us with 10 years worth of memories. And of course, when she left,
she left a huge hole in our hearts.

Today, Sunday, 10/4/09 a wonderful member of God’s creatures who wandered into my life, into my heart and connected to my soul made his transition to eternity. His name is Bandit and how appropriate, he would steal your heart. A partially paralyzed dog that had no idea of how to give up, how to stop living, how to stop loving and how to stop encouraging his extended K9 family as well as his human friends. Bandit taught me thru trials I can persevere and I am stronger than I realize; he taught me how to give thanks and be happy during the most difficult trials; he taught me how to put my weakness aside to care for humans and K9s in need. He taught me with disabilities strength is born, courage is sowed, faith will flourish, prayers really do work and life is truly worth living. You see this wonderful creature had no favorite toy, for him there was no substitute for the joy of life, the joy of giving, the joy of love felt from a pat on a back, a hug and a giggle from a child and acknowledgment from a stranger; the roar of trucks, motorcycles and thunder spoke to him in a language that only he could understand. To spend time with Bandit was to experience the spirit of someone higher than I, to look into his eyes and see God reflection on his face is an overwhelming experience. Today heaven gained another wonderful creature whose spirit shall remain with me always and his paw prints shall forever be imbedded on heart. Thank you Bandit for the lessons of simplicity, of love, of acceptance, of perseverance and until we meet again, may you enjoy the green pastures of eternity and the completeness of wholeness. God Speed my wonderful friend, God speed!

You will live on in my heart
my little friend so true,
and memories of you will fill my mind
until I go to you.

Lady will always be a part of us. She lives on in our hearts as the good and beautiful girl she is.
Lady is our “Baby Doggie”, or “Foofie”, and most importantly, our faithful, loving and trusting companion. Even though Lady was 10 years of age when she passed, she never lost her puppy personality or gave up her hope of making us happy with her constant love.
We are blessed by the love and immeasurable joy Lady brought to our lives. Lady, you are unique and special. Brian and I will love and miss you always until we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge. God Bless.
Andree and son, Brian
