The following note was written by one of our adoptive "parents" to her beloved Sheltie Jackie... My Sweet Baby Jackie My heart is breaking as I write this. You left me yesterday (7/29/2000) and I just cannot stop crying. You brought more happiness & joy into my life than I can begin to explain. Everyone who saw us together noticed the special bond that we had. It was love at first sight, huh girl? I don’t know about your past, or even when you were born. I only know that our special time began on 4/15/2000 (thanks to LA collie & Sheltie Rescue). That’s the day I planned to celebrate. I waited for you for so very long and sweet girl, it was worth it - even though it was cut short. I had hoped to hoped to have many years with you . We went everywhere together! To the river on weekends, to see Grandma Carol, (Prissy & Tanner), and even to Mobile a few times. You were such a sport!! And how wonderful you were in obedience school!! You were in the top of your class little girl! I was sooo proud of you. Graduation is tomorrow, but I don’t think I will go. I’m really not up to it, so the instructor said he would mail your graduation certificate to me. I will treasure it because you worked so very hard Jackie! I’m so sorry you had to go. You never acted sick - not even one day! Everyday I came home to your happy smiling face & wagging tail. It was the highlight of my day! You could really make me smile. Dr. Compton did everything to help you. It happened so quickly and I thank God you did not suffer. Your little body was still warm when I picked you up I took you to a special place I knew you would love - Grandma Carol’s back yard under a tree - where you loved to run and play with Prissy and Tanner. You were never a champion, never in a show, but you were my champion Jackie, and my very best little friend. The house is so empty without you and you’re beautiful face. I miss you Jackie. I miss you terribly, and I just can’t stop crying, but I know I will see you again one day at the bridge, so wait for me there. Thank you for bringing so many smiles and so much happiness into my life. I Love You Little Girl! Lisa P.S. And if I had it to do over, knowing we only had 3 ½ months, I still would have taken her. I loved her that much.
